Don Julio González began his tequila-making journey in 1942 in Atotonilco, Mexico. Originally produced in small batches for family and friends, the quality, craftsmanship and flavor of Tequila Don Julio soon spread beyond Mexico, making it the world’s first luxury tequila.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the opening of Don Julio’s first distillery they released an exquisite Tequila Añejo made from the finest piñas, double distilled and aged for 24-30 months in small oak barrels.
This 80-proof, limited-edition tequila is double-distilled, has a huge vanilla bite and a powerful kick of exotic spices, obvious smoky/charred oak wood aromas followed by caramel. A bit vegetal on the finish, but otherwise really intriguing.
Don Julio remains Mexico’s most popular luxury tequila to this day.
